Angry Coolant loss and overheating

My 2014 SL550 overheated...but not according to the gauge. I pulled into the driveway to smell coolant, opened the hood and it's spraying out of the front of the engine..,likely the thermostat housing. Nothing in the reservoir. I had no puddles no massive leaks to give me any warning, the coolant was gone. I put in almost 2 gallons of water,,,pretty empty.

The car was towed and the diagnosis is water pump and some other plastic parts, $1600.

Anyone else lose a water pump? What was the damage? Just curious.

I had a coolant hose come off. Are you sure it's your water pump?

I already had that happen to me...this is round 2 of cooling issues.
Garage says it was water pump. I never saw any fluid, so it left while driving. This diagnosis makes sense.
Mine blew the hose when I pulled into my garage...a bit messier to clean up than yours
I was concerned about a head gasket. I had just had my car serviced and I believe they overfilled the reservoir. There is a max because the stem is closed.

I’m assuming you checked oil and no signs of coolant?
Mileage? When you say you had your car serviced, did they replace the coolant?
