SL/R231: Trunk lid closes unintentionally.

Trunk lid closes unintentionally.
My friend's 2015 sl550 has the issue where the trunk lid will shut or closes unintentionally after a few seconds it reaches its height. In other words it won't stay open.

The 2 Lift Support struts are weak. . Marginal struts start to affect the trunk staying open in cold weather. Mine just started doing this a few weeks ago.
Available from Rock Auto, 2 for $36. . Part number 4B908472 Made by Stabilus. . Easy to replace 10 minute job. .
You'll need someone to hold the trunk lid FULLY open or a big stick. No way you can manually compress these. Pry the little clips 1/2 way on each end [they will stay there]
then slip the ball end on and off the ball joints. And Yes, when you get the old ones off, you'll swear they are still good because you can't compress them either.
