Hi, I had a bad mechanic cause more damage than good. The pic of the grill area behind the front seat, the middle part, its lose and rattles. Does this come up? How do you remove and put it back down securely?
Also, my rear speakers ( Bang and O) have very little sound. Is there an amp for them?
I found a silver box near the battery in trunk, can someone identify what this is please?

There's good clear information on changing the engineering menu to allow front/rear fade/balance in another thread in this forum. I, too, have the B and O on my 2013 and despite what others have said, I found it made an enormous and very fulfilling change to hear my music in full surround mode.
Turn on the car to Accessory (don't start), then hold the red End Call, 1 and # keys on the command system at the same time for around 5-10 seconds. Its controlled by the main controller (scroll to change values on a page, slide to go to next page, press down to select.) On my SL550, the option for fade was in HW Settings...HU Parameters (if I remember correctly) on about page 12-13 (of 18). Enabling "Surround and Fade" let me balance the sound better and get a good sound fill.
I'd advise you not to tamper with any of the other options in this menu for fear of 'bricking' your car!

Let's start by telling us what the mechanic did and was supposed to do, and why.
How long have you had the car?
How many miles are on the car?
Have you tried to partially open the top and check that the middle piece is secure? The rear part of the shelf does open up when you move the roof to the open position. If you partially open the top, have the engine running. Otherwise the top may finish the action you were performing on its own as the battery draws down.

What he was supposed to do was replace the gas tank.... it had that issue where it stopped filling up every 2 seconds. I tried the other options, MB said I needed a whole tank.
Has 125k miles.
The top goes up and down no problem,but with top up that middle section rattles. I might just try to stuff something inbetween t he cracks to make it stop rattling, but thats not exactly fixing it. It would be great to know how to open it up and secure it properly.
I love the car, all paid off and other than the gas tank and a trans computer, no real issues in 125k miles. I am told trade in is only 9k for the car, so may as well keep it until the wheels fall off since it still drives better than any toyota, Honda or Ford in existence.
