2013 SL550 Wheel size question

Hey Guys,

We had a bit of snow here in the deep south recently and while it wasn't expected to stick, it did. By the time I left the office, it was pretty narly and I curbed the wheels and tires pretty badly. Sure, I can get them repaired and new tires, but I've never really been in love with the stock rims.

I have a brand-new set of wheels and tires (that I really like) that came on another car. They are 5x108 but I can always use adapters for 5x112. I'm really not sure about the actual wheel sizes but I don't think they are staggered, they're probably 8.5's. They currently have brand new Conti 255/35ZR20's on them.

Question is, could I actually use these on the SL or is this just folly? As always, your opinions would be appreciated. Cheers.

First thing I'd look at is how the two sets of wheels compare offset-wise, and how bolt pattern adapters, which will be about 0.75" (19mm) thick factor in to where your tires will end up. There are several online tire/wheel size calculators that can help determine this.

Thanks, mate. I think I've decided to nix this idea and just have my original wheels refinished and new tires. Bloody shame to have these brand-new wheels doing nothing! Cheers.

I have a similar situation -- a set of Status alloys which I bought for my Lexus that I traded for an X7. A bolt pattern hub adapter combined with the difference in wheel offset would have bumped the tires outward about 32mm on the X7, which was more than I was comfortable with. So I bought another set of wheels.
