SL/R231: ABC fluid top up procedure
I do not want to do a full fluid flush yet - just add some (less than a quart?) to get me by until spring weather and I can do the full job. I’ve had a slow leak from the rear shock that was identified by the MB deal a couple years ago and now I guess enough has leaked out to get an ABC Malfunction (white not red) each time I start the car. I can also hear 2 distinct squeak/creek noises right after startup each time especially when it’s cold outside and the car has sat overnight.
This is my daily driver and I don’t want to damage anything and figured a fluid top-off would help. The car is a 2015 SL400 with 50k miles, all options except sport package (if that helps). Thank you in advance - I’ll record the job once complete and post here for future reference if anyone can provide some info.
FYI, I have access to a lift, proper tools etc and previously DIY’d an ABC tandem pump replacement on my 2005 SL500 (back in 2010) - what a nightmare! You think I would learn my lesson! Lol
