Electric boot separator problem

Hello. I have a SL63 R231 2019. It has an electric boot/trunk separator that doesn't always work. It always goes up but sometimes it wont go down. If I press the button it might do nothing or it might move a few millimetres and stop. Any ideas of what this could be?

It generally works on the second or third attempt but is quite an issue as yesterday I had the roof down, opened the boot and the boot would not close as the folded roof and separator move to the open position when the boot is opened.

As a temporary measure can the separator be moved manually? A gentle tug will not move it so maybe it has a release somewhere.

Thanks

Get the car scanned with a Mercedes specific scanner, such as LAUNCH or XENTRY (XENTRY being preferred). If you don't have a scanner, invest in one. I would not force anything manually. If you break something, it ain't gonna be cheap to fix.

There are position sensors that allow the control module to raise or lower the partition/roof. Since the button to manually raise or lower the partition does not work reliably, I'm leaning toward a malfunctioning sensor. A scan tool should identify the problem.

Just raise the open trunk up or down a few mm and it should work
