SL/R231: Strut Replacement - When and the cost?
What's the groups experience with this and typical costs, etc.

What size wheels? It's best to stay with 18 in wheels if no ABC.
Are the tires run flats or not? Run flats have a much harsher ride than regular tires.
I'm scheduled for my 12 comprehensive maintenance next week (heavy sigh) so I'll consult with my tech at that time. I also agree, the tire pressures make a huge difference.

Concerning tire pressure - use the numbers in the gas filler door and not the ones inside the driver's door, which are maximums.
Did it always ride “rough” or is this a new development?
If there is a previous owner, could they have replaced the struts/shocks with stiffer ones for a “sportier” ride? The OE shocks and struts are Bilstein B4 DampTronic.
Failed struts/shocks usually give a bouncy ride, not a stiffer one. Also, you should be able to bounce each corner of the car to check the condition of the struts/shocks. There’s a very good chance that you are just expecting something more comfortable. I find the DampTronic struts very comfortable, but just not ABC level.
