SL/R232: Rant.
SL is a top of the line Mercedes, the pinnacle of success. Entrepreneurs, C-level executives and old money are real buyers, not 20 or 30 something year old females driving down to the beach for a cocktail.
I bought my first SL at 23 and I have no issues with young men enjoying this car but I do not see how young females fit in. Is it even safe for a young female to drive a $200k convertible in the US nowadays?!

B) Kids or not is irrelevant since someone buying a car like this undoubtedly has at least one additional vehicle
C) “I have no issues with young men enjoying this car but I do not see how females fit in” I honestly can’t tell if you’re joking or if you’ve somehow just been awoken from a 1940’s time capsule.

1. Women have always been a key demographic for the SL, at least since the R109. Actually more than men now that I think of it.
2. Women are just as capable in business, having careers and able afford this or other high-end cars.
Why not using this in marketing?
I for one see zero issues with these videos and prefer looking at a woman driving the car than some dude

Here in EU are already a few (approx 50, almost) new SL63 for sale (buy now, drive tomorrow), many different colors, most of them already under MSRP, some try to get a premium, but these don't sell very fast.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
There the cars are sold in US $ before tax - they only seem to sell the SL 55 for $ 170 k base price.
Interestingly enough, they have the performance seats as an option but only with plain Nappa leather.
Looks like the US an Canada are the stepchildren as all of Europe has the configurator up and obviously also the Middle East.
At one time in the past the US was considered a critically important market, but that seems long ago.
I do have to marvel at the craziness of MB to run ads on the SL with absolute zero information available at the dealers.
Those performance seats with Exclusive leather look killer. Bummer we can’t seem to get those here.

Been waiting 7 months. Dealer has no clue when production will begin, when delivery can be anticipated, whether my specs can be met but has promised MSRP whatever that turns out to be.
