SL is a top of the line Mercedes, the pinnacle of success. Entrepreneurs, C-level executives and old money are real buyers, not 20 or 30 something year old females driving down to the beach for a cocktail.
the SL55 will be around 150k not 250k. I have about 15 females that work for me that could all easily afford this car. I hate to burst your bubble but the world is no longer an old white mans club. There are many female entrepreneurs and executives out there. In the past the SL was always synonymous with old people. Mercedes is clearly trying to change that image. You have kids in there 20s that make money with social media and that is the target audience Mercedes is going after. (I fit in the OWM club).

Curious, what line of work are you in? If your female employees can afford a $200k car they must be making milly a year. Do these ladies have kids? Have you seen the back seats in the SL, doubtful child seats can fit.
I bought my first SL at 23 and I have no issues with young men enjoying this car but I do not see how young females fit in. Is it even safe for a young female to drive a $200k convertible in the US nowadays?!

No offense but your view of woman is pretty archaic. Not all females have kids or want kids, many females carry guns and go to the gun range on a regular basis. Go check out a gym and see some of the females working out. The days of barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen are long gone. Believe it or not woman can even be the breadwinner in a family and the husbands stay at home with this kids!! Shocking, I know but the world is pretty progressive now. Lastly, if you finance a 150k car your payments are about $2500/month (leasing is even lower). That’s about 30k a year. Doesn’t take 7 figures to afford that. A single person making 150-250k can afford that easily. To ease your curiosity, legal profession.

A) You do not need a $1m a year to buy a $175-$200k car

B) Kids or not is irrelevant since someone buying a car like this undoubtedly has at least one additional vehicle

C) “I have no issues with young men enjoying this car but I do not see how females fit in” I honestly can’t tell if you’re joking or if you’ve somehow just been awoken from a 1940’s time capsule.

This thread seems to have degraded into stereo types.

1. Women have always been a key demographic for the SL, at least since the R109. Actually more than men now that I think of it.

2. Women are just as capable in business, having careers and able afford this or other high-end cars.
Why not using this in marketing?

I for one see zero issues with these videos and prefer looking at a woman driving the car than some dude

I’m a stay at home dad (retired at 42, 49 now, because of a breadwinner wife) and its boringly great. But to the point of only men buying these things is wrong and as others said, archaic. My wife is the one jumping up and down wanting this as her weekend/reward/ego car, if she can hold out. The sex of the person does not matter, its their drive to succeed. Just shut up and work……….then reap the rewards.

S63 AMG Cabrio
Prices for new reeleased cars are always high.......just wait few quarters, then the price get "normal" (no premiums!) and you also get a better car where the first major glitches are fixed. Better drive a MY23 SL63, here probably even with a discount, then pay a premium for a MY22 SL63.

Here in EU are already a few (approx 50, almost) new SL63 for sale (buy now, drive tomorrow), many different colors, most of them already under MSRP, some try to get a premium, but these don't sell very fast.

This is the way. Why rush and be the first to overpay and be a guinea pig? Waiting always better.

If you go to " Mercedes Benz Mena Configurator " it will take you to the configurator for the Middle East.

There the cars are sold in US $ before tax - they only seem to sell the SL 55 for $ 170 k base price.

Interestingly enough, they have the performance seats as an option but only with plain Nappa leather.

Looks like the US an Canada are the stepchildren as all of Europe has the configurator up and obviously also the Middle East.

At one time in the past the US was considered a critically important market, but that seems long ago.

I do have to marvel at the craziness of MB to run ads on the SL with absolute zero information available at the dealers.

Thanks for the info. Based on the S580 MSRP in both regions, that would put the SL55 under $130k in the US.

Those performance seats with Exclusive leather look killer. Bummer we can’t seem to get those here.

The fact that they're running ads and there is nothing on the site in the way of real info like price and build your own and the dealers know nothing, tell me that MBUSA is just HOSED. Who advertises a car that their dealers don't have any real info on? Shockingly incompetence at MBUSA.

Cancelling 55 order, buying 911 instead. MB does not deserve my business.

Been waiting 7 months. Dealer has no clue when production will begin, when delivery can be anticipated, whether my specs can be met but has promised MSRP whatever that turns out to be.

the Porsche world and delays are crazy. 2 years ago you could find multiple ones on the showroom floor. Now it is no clue when allocations are available and which options will cause a delay. I just picked up a brand new Carrera S while waiting for my SL55 and at this point I may just keep the Porsche.

The current gen G is worth every penny. Best car I’ve ever had, especially as a daily and for mixed city/highway/off-road use. I barely drive the AMG GTC, the G is that good, and our roads are that bad and so filled with traffic/potholes/cops. The dream of driving something like an SL on a deserted coastal highway is just that…
