Took delivery today and need some help.
So, I was able to take delivery of my Selenite Grey SL63 today and I am blown away by the learning curve that I am facing trying to understand all the technology available in this car.
I went from an AMG GTS to the SL63 and clearly it is going to take me weeks to truly get up to speed. I recently bought an ALPINA B7 and thought BMW was technology overkill - but it looks like that MB is
I need help on one item please : We travel quite a bit and I always used to put my AMG GTS on a trickle charger and there was a round 12 v charging port in the trunk. I have looked and looked but can't find one in the SL - clearly there must be one - but where??
I only drove from the dealership to our house - obviously not enough to form opinions but I already realize that the SL handles the terrible roads of Washington DC with much more aplomb than the GTS and the seats are quite a bit more comfortable.
More feedback to come as I put the vehicle through its paces

Figured out the 12 V plug - it is hidden by a cover to the left of the cup holders.

Congrats on the delivery! I look forward to hearing your impressions, as well as seeing more photos of your beautiful ride!
As for the technology, I highly recommend you schedule an appointment with your dealer’s tech consultant, they explain how everything works and can really make things easy. In addition, I’d recommend simply sitting in the car and just playing around with the infotainment helping you discover new features and settings. At first its a bit daunting, but trust me, the new MBUX2.0 is very intuitive and simple once adjusted to the system.

Sorry about the washed out photo of the interior including the smudges on the screen, which btw is a real issue to stay on top of.
It was extremely sunny today and it really makes the interior look more grey than black.

I like everything about the car except the screen - deal breaker for me. Perhaps MB should make a mini magic vision control wiper that is attached to the top of the screen for fingerprints.

We are basically neighbors with the museum and I started a "tradition" many, many years ago to take photos of all our new cars shortly after they arrive.
They have a wonderful driveway with changing pieces of art making for nice backdrops - I like think of cars as art on wheels.

BTW - discovered today that the 12v socket can't be used for the trickle charger. It can only be used for --- outgoing current.
The trickle charger must once again be hooked up to a +/- terminals in the engine compartment.
That clearly is a step back from the GT which has a 12v in the trunk that can be used for incoming and outgoing.

My wife and I enjoyed a nice long drive today, a combination, of Interstate, country and city roads
The wind buffer may have been made by Mickey Mouse in a Galaxy a long, long time ago - but it does work very well even at high speed.
My car before this was an AMG GTS, so compared it handles terrible DC roads and highways in a much more pleasant way. I had been struggling differentiating between a Sports Car and a Roadster. I am now quite clear - the SL is a roadster. Of course the engine needs to run in ( 4k max rpm) but the performance is truly outstanding and the rear wheel {steering) is clearly noticeable.
I went back yesterday for remedial classes on all the features and between instructions and fiddling around I am getting quite comfortable with the myriad of settings and choices.
There is one actual issue with this car that I will need to get seen to on Monday - no air coming out of the left air vent in front of the driver. Given that it is 91 degrees today, that was a bit annoying. I talked to the sales person who believes that the car came shipped with styrofoam behind the turbine to prevent stuff from falling down the tubes and he thinks it probably was not removed - seems reasonable assumption.
Still early going, but I think we are off to a good start.

Happy for you. Appreciated your review and looking forward to hearing more. How do you like the exterior color and what other color did you consider? The one I’ve ordered is the same exterior color but with red interior. I continue to struggle between the grey or silver exterior; both should look great with red interior and black wheels.

I don't think you can go wrong either way. However, silver/red is a very famous historical combination from the 300 SL gullwing days.

I opted for the Cirrus Silver Metallic with black interior and I love the combination. It definitely picks up a blue tint when outside with a blue sky. In the showroom lights and when not in the sun it looks more silver.
