Holiday theme UI

I was greeted by a holiday-themed UI today. You can turn this setting off but it's kinda neat.

I’ve heard that you have to wait for the system to cycle when you first get in the car before you can do anything, like put the top down, and can take 30 to 60 seconds. Is that true?

Maybe around that if you sign in. But, you can also put the top down with the key fob before you get in if you want to short cut that.

It was a nice moment of "Surprise and Delight" for sure, but quickly tempered with the frustration of a top that is inconsistent in going up or down + the "charge the 12v Battery" after not having driven for two days.

I do enjoy the car, but there are some issues that are enough of an annoyance that can ruin the 99% that is spot on.

The battery issues need addressing. Constant irritation and occasional real problems.

On the top, I got my SL63 in August and the top was a constant problem; stuck in traffic in Texas heat and the top won't go up sucks. Took into dealership and got it back three days later with dreaded "could not reproduce". Raised hell with dealership manager and took back in again. A key tech guy got it fixed with explanation that MB had just put out some service updates and some were for the top operation. Mine was supposedly the first in San Antonio so new model problems.

Basically, replace the main motor, lube the parts, and check the alignments. It has been perfect since then; but only use the "push button twice" function now, never the sliding scale that is virtually impossible to use moving so the fact that it opens/closes up to 30+ MPH means nothing if you try to use the sliding scale.

I’m in Austin and getting stuck in the heat would be the worst.

did you also have what you’d call excessive wind noise? Or just the operation issue?

No wind noise problem at all. I have a BMW M8 convertible too and I think the SL is a little quieter. Both are substantial multi layer designs.
