Maybach SL ?

I recommend being careful if you’re interested in the Maybach SL. I personally would “hold off” purchasing the Maybach SL until AMG Mercedes corrects the battery drain issues. My new SL63 has been to the dealer four times in six weeks for battery drain and component failure issues. The tech told me that the component failures are due to the battery drain issues ????

This seems to be the bain of many modern cars; Porsche states in their 911 (992) owners' manual that the cars with lithium batteries must be driven 6K miles a year or the battery issues won't be covered. My battery kept throwing all kinds of warning lights. Ferraris need to be plugged in constantly; they make it easy by providing a magnetic connector on the rear of the car to attach the supplied battery maintainer. Today, I took my 3 day old '22 SL 55 to the dealer and had the battery fitted with the charging cable so I can just plug it into a maintainer. I'm not justifying that, but if it prevents issues to plug it in if I'm not going to be driving it for several days I'm ok with that.

Although I went in depth into this in another post, I was in India for close to a month, and my car did not discharge such that it went to displaying critical battery issues upon my return. The way I did it was to double click the key fob, testing later to make sure that the key fob and car were not talking to each other, and then put the keys in an upstairs bedroom, probably 30 feet away. When I returned from India, the car started right up with no problem. As I stated in another post the way to test to make sure that the key fob and the car are not in constant communication is after double clicking at some point, maybe five 10, or 15 minutes later walk into the vicinity where the car is and if the doorhandles don't pop out, you know that the car is not paying attention to the key fob. When this is combined with the key fob being a substantial distance away, it seems to take care of the issue long term. I don't keep the keys any special distance away for my regular driving finding that the double click is sufficient. Sure it's something that shouldn't need to be, but at least I have a workaround that indeed works for me.

The Maybach SL is old news. That was already announced last May and the Mythos SL Speedster is happening, too. It's gonna be the first model of the new sub brand.
