Hi Terry,
Update on your build for the SL55.
The order banks for the 2024's were closed and there is no remaining allocations so your request was pushed to a 2025 model year.
Yours was the next request to be built, so you will receive the first 2025 model allocation.
Order banks have not yet opened for model year 2025 but once they do I will update you.
Due to yours being pushed back to the next model year we will take another $1000 off the price so a total of $2000 off MSRP.
Also if there are any incentives on the vehicle that you qualify for we will be happy to include those if applicable, incentives change on a month to month basis so I cannot provide you with what will be available until time of purchase.
As of right now the SL's currently do not have any special incentives provided by Mercedes-Benz due to limited availability and scarce allocation.

I was just offered $25k off a “new” ‘23 SL 63 with 54 miles on it in Cali, seems light as the 25’s are now being ordered and some say $40k off. What should the discount really be? With no trades of course as that really muddies the water.

Cargurus.com indicates that a used 2023 SL63 is worth about $152k. The moment you drive your new "2023" SL63 off the lot, it will be worth $152k. I think anything less than $50k off the car isn't worth it.

I don’t know if it’s reasonable to comp the price of a new 23 vs used but $25 just isn’t sufficient imo.
When the 25’s arrive in a few months I’d assume the leftover 24’s will be $25k off, so a leftover 23 should be at least $35k off now.
I do realize much of this is market specific but so long as there’s MB trunk $ dealers will deal.
Feel badly for those that paid significant adm’s at the time for problem child 22’s 😕

All purchases of cars in this price range are for personal enjoyment. In my younger days, I would beat the crap out of dealers on price. As I have gotten older, I put more on the purchase experience, customer service, and longer term relationship. Almost all high end cars have huge depreciation, so the drop in value of the SL is really not a surprise. The first brand new Aston Martin that I bought, the dealer offered $35k off without even asking. Despite the issues that some have with the new SL (including me), it is still one of my favorite cars to jump in and enjoy. It is my daily driver. The Hyper Blue metallic paint is awesome, the exclusive diamond pattern interior looks gorgeous, and the V8 roar sounds terrific. To be quite honest, I don't care what the trade in value is. While I have it, it is worth what I paid for it. Whatever price you are able to negotiate, get to a number that feels right. Once you get behind the wheel, the price should fade into the background. The smiles should move to the foreground.

I completely agree. The problem is when you write that big check, drive the car home and the smiles fade way too soon, due to persistent, nagging, annoying issues caused by manufacturer mistakes in engineering & design. If there is a scowl on your face every time the car misbehaves, it’s time to dispose of the car and move on. For the exceptionally well heeled, that may mean simply trading the car in. To those of us who are not quite in that stratospheric financial position and have a HUGE problem with taking a big hit to dispose of the car, thank goodness for “Lemon” laws. I personally feel that having a manufacturer “repurchase” a defective vehicle is the very best way to get that company to realize the error of their ways. The second best way to do that is to buy another brand the next time around. Adios Mercedes-Benz!

I have lemon lawed a car in the past, and have gotten rid of cars for things as small as squeaks and rattles because of the scowl you mentioned. My SL has been in the shop long enough for me to lemon law it. However, I haven't done so because it is one of those rare cars that has enough personality to outweigh the issues, and MB has not ignored the issues and continues to put effort into addressing them.

True. The prices and discounts are definitely market specific. A discount offering from a large dealer in an area with a number of other dealers might be significantly different from another in a smaller market. Each dealership has a pretty good idea of the discount needed to move that specific vehicle given its configuration, time on the lot, etc. Often when people are comparing discounts they are comparing a more desirably configured car to one not so nicely configured. The sales managers usually have a finely attuned nose to what will sell and when and what's needed to "move the iron."
