SL/R232: Pricing on New SL63 or SL55

Also, some more info will help. 22 or 23? Location? Cold regions will be more motivated to make a sale on a convertible.
There have definitely been deals well beyond $30k on 63's but most of those would have been 22's
This is a 2023 SL63. I'm in the Northeast but I've tried 10 MB dealerships three are wiling to do 15K off 1 20K off and 1 other 22k off. SL 55 15K -17K off but not great build specs.

First I would look at the cars available (via cars.com, etc.). Find the best config and then send every dealer that has a desirable car the same info.
Ideally figure out what you are willing to pay. You can try to shoot for $30k if you want. Are you looking for any financing or lease deals? Cash deals are not interesting for dealers as they make a fair amount of money on the financing markups (profit sharing model with MBFS).
Something like "Am interested to buy is car if you are OK for $xxK off. Contact me if interested. We can make this a quick transaction." Don't mention any type of payment. That's step 2. Works better towards the end of the month but dealers are now back into normalized deal mode.
Some won't respond, some will tell you to pound sand and some are willing to discuss. Ideally you first end up with the car you like best, 2nd you can drive the price conversation...

That all said, I do think you can cite the discounts on the 63s as a basis for a relative discount on a 55. In other words, if the discounts folks are getting on 63s is essentially pricing them close to the 55 MSRP then that destroys the value of the 55 the minute you take possession (even more than normal new car depreciation). There should be some meaningful difference in real world price between the 63 and 55.
Good luck! If you haven’t locked that order in yet - now is the time to negotiate! If you are past that point and trying to come back to negotiate before delivery I think you will have a hard time even though the market would suggest there should be a meaningful discount.

Have not placed an order yet. Talked to both dealers in town 6-8 months ago when the White interior still wasn’t available and there were tons of electrical issues still being worked out. At the time, both agreed to order at MSRP but a lot has changed since then.
