It appears your dealer in the ballpark. I intend to buy a SL63E but not on the introduction. I'm still waiting for MB to end the "beta tests", particularly the electrical issues, one more software update from fixed???? Sure!!
I predict this will be the last SL............ 70 years was a stellar run. The poor design, questionable engineering and off the charts bad pricing and introduction are evident in sales numbers I hope I'm wrong.

I don't mean to be difficult here, but I'm genuinely curious: why would you intend to buy an SL63E if you think the car has poor design? Bad pricing is a given seeing what's happening to these cars on the secondary market. Does anybody have numbers for a 55? I assume percentage-wise it will be pretty similar
In any event, I love driving my car and can honestly say I had more trouble with the less than year old 992 Carrera S Cabriolet I had sold to buy the AMG.

I appreciate your question. I've been an SL fan since high school, bought my first in 1986, which I still own ( it has a total of 272 miles). I wish MB would have surveyed previous owners BEFORE final design. I'm pretty sure actual consumers know what they want. Many of our fellow forum members know cars, ask previous clients for input. The questionable useless back seats, lack of interior and exterior colors and the delayed staggered introduction along with fairly common maladies are clearly not pluses. The initial additional dealer markups were doomed to be short lived. The abysmal depreciation will further erode the appeal for many, I've never sold an SL acquisition so it's not a factor. I'm probably going to get a SL63E because I have a fairly complete set of SL models.
I hope MB gets it together but recent actions do not inspire confidence. The poor sales and value declines are not a surprise. This may be the last SL........the once great flagship of MB. Sad

Pretty happy with M8 for now. Absolutely trouble free, always ready to start (no trickle charger required, LOL). Very conservative comparing with SL but it works for me.
