SL/R232: Turn off vehicle tracking?
Short book, could probably be read in a day, or for sure in a weekend.
At the end of it, I thought back on the content, the text, the plot, the subplot, the story behind and between the lines.
I was happy to have read it, but I thought it could never happen.
Then I watched back to the future sequel. Where the world seemed to be watching Marty and his family from a flat screen TV in the middle of their great room.
That made me a little uncomfortable.
Then I saw the classic movie Brazil. It started coming together.
A Soviet style Big Brother isn’t here in the West, but in China, North Korea, and some others, it is here.
I don’t like it, and I do everything I can to avoid it, but what else can you do.
We have a good portion of our population submitting to voluntarily having big brother watching over all their moves.
What with Facebook, twitter, OF, many insurance apps, 23 and me, we are giving away any shred of privacy we have left.
I have been enticed to allow my insurance provider to allow them to monitor my driver’s habits.
To what end?
They claim the can save me money on my insurance.
But how do they take into account to animal that darts in front of you, causing hard braking, or heaven forbid you have to floor it to get away from a road rager with a gun?
In my estimation, all those apps will end up doing is being used as an excuse to increase insurance, or possibly cancel it altogether.
