SL/R232: Alarm light question

Alarm light question
Have had this car for two years and I’m embarrassed to admit, I just noticed this yesterday . . . The tiny red LED on the door that flashes when the alarm is on, does it flash on both doors on your car or just the driver’s side? Taking my car in for service next week and I’m not sure if this is a bug or a feature! I can convince myself that the LED is activated for the driver’s side only, but it makes more sense that it would flash on both sides, thanks for the help, KH

Will do! Seems so silly, car has the LEDs installed on both door, why not just wire/program them both up? Of course, the R232 has enough electrical drain gremlins, probably safer not to add an erroneous LED? HaHa, KH

Poor design
I took my r232 in for service in Nov. 2025 and questioned the two alarm LEDs on the doors. The service dept stated that all the wiring is there on the passenger side but it is nonfunctional. This seems like a poor decision from MB. In order to compare it, I checked this out on the GT, since the interior is identical, and the passenger’s door LED on that model also does not flash. Since the point of a flashing LED is to dissuade a burglar from breaking a window, why not have the passenger’s side also flash? Additionally, I’m sure that the energy draw from that sized LED is very small. I don’t get it.
