Question loud fuel pump

i have a 88 560sl - the last couple of years the fuel pump seems to be
getting louder - (quiets after awhile) i recently changed the fuel filter -
any ideas? also, has anyone installed a tonneau cover? i don't like the
sun deteriorating the int. i saw one in adsitco catalog for $800 - seems high
for a piece of canvas.

I just bought a 1973 450sl and find that the car is loud. My mechanic told me that it sounded like a fan clutch so I replaced it. The outcome, still just as loud.
