SL/R107: high rpm at cold start

1980 450 sl, 2007 e 320 bluetec
high rpm at cold start
my 1980 450sl runs very high rpm when cold(2000-2200 rpm).It lasts for few minutes and then goes down to about 700 rpm.Any suggestions how to fix this problem?Please email me at molak10@yahoo.ca

1973 450sl
I have a 73 450SL with the same problem. I took it to my mechanic and he fixed it. He told me he did was clean something. I know this doesn't help you much because I don't remember what he cleaned, but I was happy that I didn't have to buy any parts to fix it.

yep
I have the 73 450sl and it is the cold start valve. look in to the hanes man. and grab a rubber hamer and smake it a cople of times.
