air inject check valve

Is it OK to eliminate air inject check valve in my 1980 450sl?I heard that some owners plug the outlet in the engine and eliminate whole system. What are the possible negative affects of me doing this?

that is a boo boo

no dont do it . that will put the comp in to a limp home mode and or will do 1 of 2 things it will ritch in up and fule or it will try to make it runn lean. the comp will use a standerd amout of air to go in to the combustion chamber. but it is ok to take off the cats if you dont have a o2 sens. but dont go to a pipe above 2".
