air flow meter?

i am not able to find pictures or diagrams of my m/b engine 1987 560sl. it would seem something is missing on my engine. just below the air cleaner next to the thottle body has what i have identified as the air flow meter. but i apears to have been cut off or damged and looks as if it should protrude up through the air cleaner. not sure what im looking at. any ideas ?

you really need to get a manual and familiarize yourself with your 117...
the part you are pointing at is the mixture control tower. it is intentionally plugged for security.

navigate to: http://www.startekinfo.com/StarTek/o...tedDocId=11883

and review...

Enjoy the ride!
