Trunk Lid Question

When I shut the trunk on my 85 380sl it sounds like someone is banging on sheet metal, ( tinny clang). On the inside the sheet metal is not afixed to the support structure ( cross members) at all. Should there be some sort of rubber gromets or adhesive between the underside of the trunk lid and the support structure?
It even makes a tinny noise when I shut the doors.
Thanks
JZ

I had the same problem with my 1989 560SL. I used some small dabs of silicone adhesive........quiet again. Simple solution and easy.

some silicone took care of the rattle.
How do I start a new thread?
