New owner of 1988 560SL
Dear Members:
I just purchased a 1988 Mercedes Benz 560SL. My concern is that the "heat shield-ie form like material" on the top of the inside of my hood is falling off. Right now, I am just laying the material on top of the engine.
My question is, where can I buy a new heat shield, and how do you take off the old, and put in the new.
Any and all advise is appreciated.

I assume it's the same as the later model SL I did, but the foam mat is just glued on to the hood. Scrape all the old one off and clean the hood, then use a spray adhesive to coat the new pad and press it on the hood.
The pad can be found anywhere online with a little searching. It's essentially just a large piece of foam on those older cars. Doesn't really do much anyway. Mostly there for noise.
