1987 560SL Pin removal access TC guide
I can't find the access to remove the pins from the Right upper outer timing chain guide, What am I missing?
I removed the plug but it there is no Pin when I insert the bolt it goes in 3 Inches before hitting anything. The other pictures I have found show 2 of these holes together but mine only shows 1
Thanks for the Help

The EPC accepted the VIN as posted. Paint code 147 Arctic White. Interior 272A Royal Blue leather. I don't know how the VIN applies to the question.. It would be the same for any 560SL. I think he is looking to remove the pin on the tensioner clamping rail.

Here is a video from BenzWorld. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r-c1...-sprocket.html
Looks like his tensioner rail pin was threaded. Others have posted that theirs were not threaded and a PITA to remove. You might try asking over there. The only ones I have dealt with are '72-'73 which were threaded.

First let me apologize---the VIN you provided is a good VIN.
The problem is that your model 107.048 engine 117.967 is to old for WIS, however in EPC the VIN is accepted and all parts are listed.
To assist in this case, I searched for a later model that was built with a 117.967 engine(timing case cover 117 015 19 01) and the next time that engine was used was in model 126.038 with engine 117.968(timing case cover 117 015 19 01) and the removal process was available in WIS doc ra01001160210z.
That document is attached, but old and very difficult to read, but be patient or visit a dealer and have them show you the document--that's it
