380SL hard shift from 1st to 2nd.
My 380 has always shifted from 1st to 2nd rather harshly. I attempted to remedy this by replacing the vacuum modulator valve. The old one did not appear to have a leak when tested and the vacuum line also tested OK. But I went ahead and replaced the valve anyway. And as you might expect when the valve was adjusted all the way counter clock wise it had no effect in taking the "bang" out of the shift.
I have heard of a method, where a pressure gauge attached to the port on the transmission, with a banjo fitting, right behind the vacuum modulator valve can be used to adjust the firmness of the shift.
For some reason I cannot pull up any information in the archives regarding this this procedure. Can please someone point me to the correct posts in the R107 forum to access the information?
