I own a 1982 380SL with about 49K miles on the odometer. The car is in great shape, having had only two prior owners who kept it in temp.-controlled garages. Recently after driving it in a local Memorial Day parade, I got home, and as I was putting it back into the garage, I heard what sounded like metal hitting the ground. After the car was parked, I found this on the driveway. I went to a local mechanic who scoured the car for 50 minutes, but could not find where it might have come from. Can anyone shed any light on this question?
