I think it looks terrible, like some sort of lizard tongue. I hope you kept the old parts to go back to stock when you realise how many people are laughing at you...

I guess to each his own. I like it. Rumors has it as well as the next face lift for the SL will have a similar look (like the current model SLK).

That's all it is, rumour. I can't think of a Mercedes-Benz in history which has had such a radical change in its appearance as part of a facelift. The SLK was a completely new model and the SL isn't due to change until at least 2008/2009. Still, if you've got $4k burning a hole in your pocket, that's one way to spend it.

The underlying piece beneath the silver paint is real carbon fiber. Its a custom job by a local shop which now I think will be offered as a kit.

SLK 230
May I drive your SLK...sorry? it's a SL? Really?

Mmmmm well someone has finally done it and what can we say about the results? Well certainly different. I have to say my own opinion is if mercedes have to change the nose like that they will have to do more to distinguish the SL range from the SLK as from first glance that car looks very similar to an SLK55 AMG. Therefore I wouldn't be surprised in "200andwhenever" if there are more cosmetic changes apart from just the nose - perhaps the new SL will look very much more like the SLR (e.g. side vents, back rear uplifting spoiler) - well I certainly hope so. Until then I am holding back to buying an SL in full - the new model will hopefully be something for me to look forward to when to am suffering my mid-life crisis and need to bed many 18yr old busty blonde.....ok wake up now!

That's a very nice custom job
I can't thell that's a customize piece if you didn't tell me
great job

btw sometimes I can't distinguish the C-coupe and CLK front by looking it in the front (unless you stare at them for few sec)

Thanks for the feedback.

I'd rather have the R230 SL with this conversion for 1/4 the price of an SLR which is a car with 10-year old technology by design.

My idea of fun with cars is when you are able to make modifications (cosmetic or performance) or totally make them different.

I am just having fun.

I love it

I love it Thearle ....

I have been planning for a long time to get that same hood conversion done whenever I end up getting an SL .....

There are many things that can be done to make the SL look far more aggressive .....

wide-body upgrades with 345 or 355 size tires can be put on .... air strakes, spoilers, custom front pieces, 6-tip exhaust systems, etc...

I think it looks great. It has a cleaner look than the slk and slr with no line of the hood intersecting the star on the nose.

Whatever keys I grab first...
Awesome!!!! I myself have thinking off doing that-- but first Im looking at the gullwing doors (Lambo doors). But, anyways, that looks amazing! And people wont be laughing at YOU-- they will be laughing at the SLR owner who payed a couple extra Gs and came up (IMO) a little short of what your vehicle looks like. I love it! Even more than the SLR.

Not sure it's me personally. It does make the front look a little too SLK for my liking. Also, I'd be putting the original back on before selling it or trading it as I'm sure the dealer wouldn't appreciate your individuality.

It's in the SL-CLASS (R230) 2003 on forum, it's an older post on the 2nd page 20th thread down check it out "You've just got OWNED ala' THERICKER STYLE" I'm so sick of you lying piece of crap posers, why do you get off fooling people making believe you own an SL55?? What could it possibly do for you to lie like this??? Does the lying and having some forum members buy your **** make your fantasy seem more real? GOD WHAT A LOSER YOU ARE!!

Pic's are here as well www.kicherer.net click on english version then click on Galery, then click SL pic' is on bottom of the page.....

I did not say that the car in that picture was my actual car. All I said was that the hood was a perfect fitment.

I will take actual pictures when my car comes back from Florida - from Premium Automotive Concepts - the company that imports and has put it on my car. You can confirm and contact them about this car at 305-776-1581 and speak to Robert.

I find your post as a very personal attack.

Everyone would appreciate if you are a bit more professional and more matured about your personal gripes. Your actions and attitude is what depreciates the value of this community.

You have to be lying about 1 of your statements above. You said perfect fitment, just picked up from the shop yesterday and now in your latest post you say you await pick up. I think you got caught and slowly trying to find an explanation
