SL55 AMG Hesitation/Squeak
Anyone else having issues with the 55's supercharger clutch giving a little squeak associated with a slight hesitation? Usually happens around 2000-2500rpm in both 1st and 2nd gears. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think it's the supercharger drive belt as it kicks in. Mine does it occasionally.

I demonstrated the "hesitation" to the dealer's service foreman today during a diagnostic test drive. His words, "That ain't right" (Remember, I'm in Alabama). The supercharger clutch may be slipping when engaged. This is NOT normal.
1st gear...tooling along until 2000-2500rpm..."CHIRP!" accompanied by hesitation/cough. In a 130K vehicle? Nah, I don't think so. When the supercharger engages on my Toyota there is NO chirp and there is NO hesitation...just giddyup! The only "chirp" comes from breaking loose those 285 sized fat ladies in the rear!

I and three others in Las Vages are having the same issue. There is a fix for the chirping noise but not for the hesitation. The foreman at our local MB Service center is in contact with the engineers in Germany for a fix. It does have to do with the supercharger engaging and it's software related - the noise will go away with the fix but the hesitation continues. Shoot me an email and I'll be sure to let you know when there is a fix. I've been working with my guy for nearly 3 months and spoke with him yesterday. He's hoping to hear back in the next month or so from the engineers in Germany. Hang in there!

Drag,
Here's the link to how to stop the noise:

read the various posts - I had my guy use the stop squeal and sand down the plates - it works!
