Did you ever find out what the issue was with your ride?

I had this issue a couple of years ago. when turning the wheels all the way to the left or all the way to the right i would get a snapping / clunking kind of sound. Had something to do with the braces or something or other on the suspension getting bound up. The dealer put the car up on the lift, loosened everything up and re-tighthened it all and that was that. Sorry i cant remember specifically what they loosened up and tightened. Was told its pretty common on the sl55.

SL are pretty hard on the front end suspension like control arms and other bits so that is always a possibility.

If it is a crackling creaking noise that happens when turning the steering wheel and only at low speeds, it is likely this.

Exclamation Same issue SLK320

Hi I've got the same Issue
for the second time
Had Bushes replaced last year & all was quiet
Now its back
I'm due to take car off road for winter and will get it over the pit to see whats going on
Anybody know of a third party bush kit for the SLK320 ?
I changed the bushes on the Fiesta to Polyurethane and the improvements were amazing.

what CAL 1 stated is what I had done and I had indy use better bolts for retaining bolts for reinforcement plate...no more issues for last 3 years....happened twice when I had the dealer follow the bulletin as posted with CAL 1 and indy when a step further.....

I think you are describing the torque strut bushings - part # 211-333-29-14

A clunk will occur when the brake is applied at low speeds. I had these replaced at the same miles as both of you as well.

Which control arms upper or lower? I have somthing like the same sound I think lca bushings. I jus changed uppers sound still there but definitely helped out. Another sound when turning low speed, sounds almost like the rack and pinion jumps when Turing left or right, for that tomorrow gonna take off boot and grease up if that don't work. I will try and adjust rack n pinion nut.
Another sound is slow speed backing up clunk and then forward clunk. Changed motors mounts n trans mount. Next is lca bushings.
