Thanks man! I'm already learning a lot from all you guys!

I just have to tell you that your Murc is gorgeous! It's my dream car, especially modded with a set of HRE's. What's even cooler is that you have a career in finance, also one of my passions.

Keep up the good work

My 348 was getting $60-70K premiums...I waited 10 months and paid less than sticker.

My F40 commanded $500K+ premiums. I waited several years and paid alot under sticker...I think about $200K under.

I'm afraid 430's are just the latest bling bling thing and nothing more. The only really special production car of the new stuff is the CS. That may hold its value....but I doubt it.
I need your advice ... please

04 575, 04 Cayenne Turbo, just bught SL55
New hear, my 1st post. Some of you might know me from FerrariChat of perhaps the Porsche boards. I would have to agree never pay over sticker for a car. I have made comment on the Ferrari board in regards to the sticker price of some of the options 430 couple I've go through my local dealer, 205, 207, 211K. My 04 option spider was only 186. I will sau one thig though I traded my spider for a 575 and I got alot more than I paid for, which is a first for me when it comes to trading in cars. I just picked up an SL55 on Friday and so far I am very impressed with the car

Don't do it. If you feel the need to really impress people NOW with the newest model out and can afford to do it, then sure, go for it. If you have patience, then hold off. Good things are worth the wait

I believe on the pricing it is 180msrp, which is about a 6% or so increase over the 360. Then you have about 15k for the F1 transmission and the same for the carbon ceramic brakes. So thats 30k in options right there. Im sure they have some others too- so that 180 turns into ~215 real fast.

IMHO, ask the dealer how much you could get it you sell it back with a few hundred miles. This way, if you get it and you are not happy with it, you know what your downside really is. In the end, if the money is not a big deal to you, I say get it and be happy. Life is too short and you can just turn on the tv to be reminded of that.

Best regards,
Jerry

There's no doubt the F430 is an extra-ordinary car but $60k over sticker sounds alot for instant access. Can't see it replacing an SL55, would be good to have it alongside in the garage though.

I'm holding on to my SL55. I think the F430 is too flashy. Granted it's hot, I can't see myself driving it around town on weekends.

I might just opt to get a Continental GT or a DB9 in a year or so.

Certainly at my age (50), Ferraris do present something of an image problem. "Does that guy have a mid-life crisis or what?"

You own a Ferrari already. Are you going through a midlife crisis?

LOL Yes, I've had an F355 for 10 years, so my mid-life crisis is on-going.

Seriously, I do think driving a Ferrari in the city is a little weird, as far removed from their intended role as you can imagine and more likely to invite negative comment. If I lived in a city all the time, I would find it difficult to justify having one. On the other hand, if fine driving rural roads are just a few minutes away, it's the perfect playground to have and enjoy one.

Top Gear...

I watched top gear last weekend and they said if you got out of a DB9 and sat in a F430 it was like going forward 200 years in technology. Is it really that good? As i was pretty impressed with the DB9 i have to say - hard to imagine a car "200 years technology" better than that! Also do people agree the DB9 exterior seems a bit more classy than the F430?

Thoughts would be appreciated.

The DB9 is another level. It's not raw, it's not in your face but it IMO is better. It's more refined. It has the stigma that says, 'I'll kick your *** in my suit'.

If I had the choice of the two cars, DB9/F430, I'd take the F430 in an instant. I had a DB9 on order, test drove it, loved it, but it's too close to the SL55 in what it sets out to do.

Because it's refined comfort.
But, I am confused. I used to make you out as a classy kind of guy. Why the raw and naked F430?
