Thinking of trading in SL55 for F430

I have an offer from a dealer for an F430 (Black/Black) for $60k over MSRP($112k). Now, thinking about trading in my '05 SL55.

What do you think?

The F430 is unreal. I've had mine for 2 weeks. $60K over is the rub. You won't want to get out of the Ferrari. You will use any excuse to drive it. Read the latest Car and Driver article. Life is not a rehearsal. If you can afford it you will not have any remorse.

In time, they will go down in $$$ of course but who knows how long that will be??? When the Modena came out, they too were going for extreme amounts. If you feel the need for it NOW, bite the bullet and go for it. If your SL keeps you happy, wait 9-12 months.

I say that 60K is reasonable premium at the moment... Considering that you see spots for the Spider in the going range of 100-135K at the moment. I'm still debating whether to sell my spot at the moment

Good points! Thanks....I think I will hold on to my 55. I love my car but I just am not sure if the F430 will come down in price with all the pent up demand.

I remember guys buying TR's back in the 80's for $100,000 over sticker, then taking it in the shorts when they sold it for $80K in the late 90's...

A car is never a good investment, if you're rich, do it.

F430 MSRP is only $112K? I didn't realize it was cheaper (w/ regards to MSRP) than a SL55.

Is there some reason why you are not able to fly to the factory and spend an afternoon talking about the car and its performance. Im sure that they will gladly let you drive out of the factory with one for retail price. For 60K you can holiday in Europe and ship it back home yourself.

Money for nothing is thus named for a reason ..... IMHO it does not warrant any loyalty.

Wow, that's a lot of higher than I realized. That's significantly more than the Modena was. That's getting closer to the price of the Murc, give or take an SLK 55

SLK55 AMG
wait until the price goes down then get it, until now i like the looks of the Modena more, but maybe I haven't adjusted to the F430 yet!

but compared to SL55? I would get a Ferrari for the price of a SL55 just not worth it.. to throw the $$$ on a benz... max, i would pay 65,000 for a benz

i dont know what to choose for my 2nd car either 997 GT3 or F430 or Modena 360 or Maserati Modena most probably the GT3

NEVER...........REPEAT, NEVER pay over MSRP for any car, even a Ferrari....especially the modern cars............they are overproduced and are nothing more than production cars that will plummet in value............and I am a a Ferrari lover (and a pretty good customer).

My TR stickered at 121,000....and was selling for $100K over...I bought it a few years later for $80K

My 348 was getting $60-70K premiums...I waited 10 months and paid less than sticker.

My F40 commanded $500K+ premiums. I waited several years and paid alot under sticker...I think about $200K under.

I'm afraid 430's are just the latest bling bling thing and nothing more. The only really special production car of the new stuff is the CS. That may hold its value....but I doubt it.

so true, nowadays its just a matter of who has it first on the block, if you care that much then pay over sticker .As for the rest of us you know patience is a virtue
Best of luck with your purchase!

Do you happen to know what options are on it... The base was only suppose to be raised 6% Even if it had the Ceramic break upgrade... I'm going to take a look at the price list tonight.

What the hell is a Maserati Modena? The only models that I am aware of are the Quattroporte, 3200 Coupe/Spyder with the Cambiocorsa option, Grandsport and the MC12. Is this a new model?

I was looking around and the MSRP of a F40 was around 450-490K. So you must of paid in the 250-290K ranges? Today they are still commanding in the high 200's to mid 300's with a good amount of mileage... And their prices dropped in 1995. When did you pick yours up... You must have gotten one hell of a deal at that

I was wondering the same thing too

I'm sure it's not a new model.

Don't like hearing that, I hate getting my car dirty

At least you got an all-wheel drive Escalade so traction isn't an issue.....I assume the Murc doesn't go out in the rain :o

It isn't hurricane conditions... yet But I try not to take her out in the rain because of the threat in heavy rain a good amount of water can get into the intakes... and that’s not good for the engine. I try my best to abide by the owners manual except for the recommend speeds that is
