1 in every 3 SL's produced is an SL55 AMG
Just a interesting figure that I picked up at AMG yesterday.... every third SL that rolls off the production line is a SL55.
No doubt AMG are pleased!

1M, F550M, F550B, F40, S600, 365GTC, DBSx2, etc.
I thought they were producing almost 10000 SL's, meaning that there are some 3k 55's?
Where are they going? If 100 go to the UK, 1000 to the US, where are the other 1900 going? Or am I missing something here?

ummm there are many more countries out there!
I believe most of you have overlooked the middle-east. Tons of SLs are heading there and most of them are probably SL55 AMGs, heck even one SL55 AMG is heading to Uganda (in East Africa, for those geographically challenged).
Yes the SL55 hype has reached levels not seen by Mercedes-Benz in decades. For most of us it was that Autocar magazine test which brought this vehicle to the limelight. Out accelerating (0-300km/h) a Lamborghini Murcielago, Porsche 911 GT2 twin-turbo, and Ferrari 550 is no mean feat. AND at a price considerably lower, even affordable, if you can call it that.
Those on the order books this year must be having sleepless nights in anticipation! For many this will be the fastest car they have ever bought as they were probably going to get 'just' the SL500 untill they heard about this baby!
I almost forgot that other countries like Russia, Japan, Austrailia, Brazil, etc all have allocations of SL's as well!

we (mercedes-benz in paderborn/germany) delivered 17 SL500 and 5 SL55 AMG so far. it´s the best selling AMG vehicle ever in our company!
yesterday i saw a new one, with 368kw (500hp) and speed-limiter at 300km/h, not enough the SL55 has the ultimate-looking 19" wheels on it!!!
