SL55 has 200mph speedo and 368kw(500bhp)
Well, my SL55 is almost here - I have sat in it, and looked at the certificate of conformance (which is a document we get in Europe)
The COC says 368kw (which is 500 bhp), and 250km/h top speed limit.
The speedo goes to 200mph, which is good as the rumours were that the mph speedo would only go to 160 (like the other AMG vehicles) and therefore having the limiter removed was going to be problematic.
It was completely built on 3rd July, and apparently comes with a Nokia 6310i (tri-band) phone. I.E MB now have the 6310i working in the cars, they have updated the phone control unit)

that's great news Richard...I hope they do the 200mph speedo for the US as well...I bet you're dyin to drive it...Let us know the details...colors...options etc...and some pics....good luck!

Yes - right hand drive.
It had a fault so they didnt give it to me last Thursday - theyre fitting a new ignition switch (which is the gateway between the engine bay network and the interior network) - IM told it will be with me tommorow - probably actually Thursday
So, hopefully i'll have some pictures posted by the weekend

Its sat at the dealer, with a fault they are having real trouble fixing - the gearbox controller errors when talking to the instrument cluster - the suspiciion is that the latest star machine doesnt recognise the instrument cluster (because its the first of the r.h.d amg speedos in the SL), and they need to get the star software from German factory production line ....

Are you saying the real problem is that the dealer's diagnostic computer is running back-level software and is not ready for the RHD SL55 and so cannot accurately diagnose the gearbox/instrument problem?
You would have thought they would have seen this car coming....

The dealer s/w is June 2002, July 2002 will arrive at the end of the month.
The June 2002 software says "hardware version not recognised" - or similar when you ask it to interrogate the cluster.
It will program it though but still doesnt recognise it afterward - my suspicion is that its programmed it with something wrongly and the AMG gearbox computer is saying "error communicating with instrument cluster" because its saying the wrong thing to it.
They programmed it because they replaced the EIS which was faulty.
They are waiting for someone from MB headquarters to come and fix it.
