what wheels to get?

Just sold my e55 to my buddy who lives across the street, bought a 2005 sl55 and need to get wheels for it. my e55 had renntech monolites on it, which i loved the look of. i don't think i want to get the same thing again, becauce its across the street looking for some something light and open, maybe radenergie R05 or R10 . renntech has my old wheels in a diamond finish (whats that?)too

Who told you that the HRE Competition series couldn't handle the weight of the E55?
Vic55 has them.

But that statement kinda boggles my mind. The reason the HRE Competitions were created was so that HRE could get rid of the reputation that they would break or malfunction under high stress situations.

If anything, they can handle more weight then a regular HRE rim! Save the 640's.

Ricky,
It was recordmended by an hre dealer not to put this on my car, because of the weight of the car that does not mean you can't put them if you want.

Very weird that an HRE Dealer would say not to use the HRE Competition wheels, when there is someone already on the forum that has them without any problems.

I would get the Kleemann TS-6. Very unique looking, lightweight, forged. second best wheel next to the monolite. I don't think those radenergies are very light...

BBS is always an excellent choice. Cold forged, strong, lightweight, x-rayed, very high quality. Just not sure they make the offsets he will need. Another real good one is the O.Z. Superlegera, it is very strong and light, it is the stock wheel on the AMG CLK-DTM. Comes in many offsets, and really shows off your brakes!

Thats so light for a 20x10 or 20x11. I thought they were fudging the numbers a little so I put my 19x9 on a scale, and it read 19.9. The freaking tire was 25.

I like that diamond finish... good choice.

Actually, this is technically not true. The C-series cannot carry a big of a load as the regular 540 or 540R or 840Rs. Max curb weight is 4420 lbs. The rest can carry 6400. All tested to SAE J2530 standards.

Not trying to put you down Ricky, just FYI

Waiting for a set of HRE 847's in 20" to come in. Ordered them for the SL500, then traded the 500 for the 65. I couldn't cancel since they were a special order. I really like the AMG 65 wheels, but I figured I'd put the HRE's on and tuck away the stockers, until the time when I sell the car. That way I'd have almost new wheels and tires to sell the car with.

I'll post a few pics after I get them installed. They should be here in a week or two.
