Question iPOD Integration

Are there any iPod Integration for the SL55? If yes, has or have anyone bought and tried the integration kit? Thanks

Yes I have a 2005 E55 with the same or very similar factory head unit as the SL55. I have an Alpine mobil hub control unit with a video/audio jack and a stock i-pod jack mounted in the glove box running off the Alpine hub. I plug in my i-pod in the glove box, close the glove box and run the i-pod off the stock facotry head unit and display. It's awesome. I will have pix for you later on today.

I am having this exact set up installed in my winter beater a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Hemi power.

MBH, thanks, I really appreciate that and btw, was the installation complicated or its kinda plug & play thing? Also, how much did you get your Alpine Integration Kit?

Ok Gang,

Here is the first of many photos of my i-Pod system in my 2005 E55. Here is how it plugs into the glove box. The white wire is for video, and the black wire is for the music(audio). Stay tuned for more photos.

The Alpine remote now controlls the i-Pod. The i-Pod is then locked away in the glove box.

Here's a shot of the DVD 8 disc changer mounted in the truck above the factory MB Nav system. Now you see it, and Now you don't

If you look above the plate you'll notice the color back up camera eye. Everytime I put the car in reverse it turns on the color back up cam and displays it on my factory head unit. Great Safety item!!

The northeast winters can by tough. So my E55 sleeps next to my 1969 SS Big Block Camaro ( it's a real SS ).

If you have the dvd command then you can burn hundreds of songs on a dvd and they play in the command just fine. Names of the artist and track are in the display with the speedo/tach as well as the command unit and can be controlled on the unit or steering wheel.

Here's a pic of the Alpine Video Hub with remote that interfaces with any i-Pod. I am installing one in my '05 Jeep Grand Cherokee next week. It's around $300 and well worth it

You control the i-pod from the remote. I keep the I-pod in my glove box and forget about it. Everything is run off the Alpine remote and is displayed off any factory head unit.

Nice One and it looks really cool. 2 Questions though:

1.) How's the sound? Clarity? Any minor sound distortion, static or anything?
2.) Who did the installation?

Thanks again and really nice ride as well as int./ext. color combination.

1.) It sounds awesome, as if it's coming from the factory MB Stereo.
2 I had a local shop that are authorized Alpine dealers do the work. They did a very nice, clean job.

Thanks for the kind words,

Jeff,

There are menus, but not off the i-pod. They menus are from the Alpine hub. They are very easy to read and work through. I will take some photos. Just give me a day or so. My E55 is in my warehouse for the winter. I slipped on some Ice yesterday and injured my leg. Just give me a few days and I'll get the pics to you.
