code 790??

Firstly, congratulations NightSea on your purchase. I can't even imagine what it must feel like driving that car. Have you yet had a chance to put your foot down? how does it feel?

If you get a chance please post some sound files so we can hear the sound of that exhaust.

Anyways, my main question is that you listed code 790 (5-spoke AMG alloy wheels) as included in this vehicle. Yet in the pics I can see the standard multispoke wheels. Have you changed from the 5-spokes back to the multispokes seen in your pictures?

Thanks

Yes, you are right.

GMW,
Yes you are right.
I made a mistake when I copied my old order file to this forum.
I am sorry.
Thanks for pointing my mistake.

Feeling?

With S 600 , my another car, once I drove 250 km/h (
with 2 kinds of GPS speed camera warning equipments).
You know S600 has around 367 hp , 6.7 sec to 100 km.
This means that at other cars it was difficult for me to get better feeling than when driving S 600.

Untill now, I drove SL55 about 12 hours.
2 hours with roof open
10 hours with roof closed( It is rainy season here).
As I don't install yet GPS speed camera warnig equipments
(radar detectors are almost useless here) , maximum speed
I drove was 200 km/h but only 5 minutes.

Feeling? Of course , much better than S 600!

One bad thing; My wife did not like roof open driving.
She wears contact lens and complained the wind made
her eyes dry too much, so that she could not open eyes.

Maybe I should change my wife?
Or I should find a girl friend ?

Regarding the sound file,
I will try to make it with SONY digital camera soon.
But I worry about the file size( I am not good at Mutimedia
file making and uproading).

Thanks,again.

So you don't feel the need to break the engine in gradually then?

As a matter of interest, what is the standard speed limit in Korea?

SPEED LIMIT

Blue Sl ,

---Speed Limit

2- rane road ; 60Km/h
3-or more- rane road; 80Km/h

car exclusive road( no bicycle, no motor cycle) - min. 30Km/h
max. 90Km/h

express way - min. 50 Km/h , max. 100Km/h
or min. 60Km/h max. 110Km/h

---Penalty

Up to 10 Km more than the limit ; no penalty
10-20 Km/h more ; US$50 fine and 15 penalty-points
the fine and penalty points will be bigger depending on
how much over the limit.

---Speed cameras

Most of them are fixed(no laser). Some are movable (laser).
Any camera should show its location in advance.
Hidden camera is not allowed.
Some companies gathered all locations of 5000 speed cameras and put the data into GPS equipments (not Navi) which check your car location with GPS and tell you like " 1 km front, be careful ..500m ...300m ...200m..." Different from Navi,
the data can be easily upgraded through Internet.

----On some express ways newly made , no camera and few cars.
These were the roads where I could run (without my wife)

Well I did wonder whether the reason your wife couldn't open her eyes was really to do with her contact lenses Maybe she was scared of being driven at nearly double the speed limit...

Windblocker up?

Just returned from Germany where drove a 500SL on the autobahn with the top down. We found that with the windblocker in position and the windows up one could drive at high speeds without any significant wind intrusion.

I asssume that since you were without a manual and didn't get the benefit of a walk through that you may not have installed the windblocker. It was located in a black plastic pouch-like bag laying loose in the trunk and the European Delivery specialists put it in place at our request - but it looked like you probably wouldn't need the manual to figure out how to snap it in.

It was effective beyond my expectations. Of course with the SL55 your higher speeds may prove a challenge.

speed feeling

When I drove SL55 upto 200km/h with top down
my wife did not feel any serious speed!
She thought it was around 100 km/h though the wind was
very strong.

I can say unless you or your passenger see the speed meter ,
high speed (up to 200km/h)can not be felt nervous even with top down.

This kind of feeling I used to have with S 600 .
The speed of 250km/h did not make me nervous
until I saw the speed meter. However it was at S 600 with
top. Yes, with top!
This time, it was marvelous that SL 55 , even without top , could give the same feeling!

Problem is : as you don't have any competitors ,
you can not tell how fast you are driving. I don't believe the coming and passing speed of scene changes . I watch the
speed meter.

Regarding windblocker , I will try it tomorrow.
Thanks, northbenz!! I had no idea to try it .
I thought it was just one of interior items.

Speed and windblocker

Let me know what your experiece was with the windblocker at the speeds you mention. Was your wife pleased?

You are right about not sensing one's actual speed in the SL's. I thought I was going at a cruising speed when I was passed by a Mercedes and a BMW rocketing past me as I approached Munich on the Autobahn. I glanced down to the (U.S. spec) speedometer and was surprised to see I was going over 100 mph myself.

Rain

Because of rainy season,
I could not try the wind blocker.

Audio file also I couldn't.

From tomorrow , it will be sunny , but
I will be out of country 5 days.

By the way, any body knows what I should be careful
if I change the current wheels to 19 inch AmG wheels?
