SL55 on the Autobahn
My Mercedes dealer gave me a new SL 55 AMG for a test drive. I do not want to tell you how super this Supercar is, everybody knows that. I want to tell how it was on the Autobahn.....
So I drove on the Autobahn in southern Germany, to find out how fast this beast will be.....the speed-limiter stopped me at 250 km/h.
It was not the speed, it was the dramatic acceleration to 250 that impressed me. When the limiter stopped the acceleration at 250, it was like pressing the brake pedal.
The car had such a dynamic, I believe it will go over 300 easy without the limiter.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I do envy you guys in Germany with sections of Autobahn with no speed limit. I know it's not the case everywhere but to be able to drive without concern for the speed limit, only what is a safe speed to drive must be great!

63' 220Sb (the one and only with fins)
There was a track-test on yesterdays issue of Sport Auto TV on DSF. 0-100 KPH in 4,3 sec; 0-200 in 13,3 sec. Hockenheimring in 1,58 min; Nürburgring North loop I don´t remember, but pretty fast.
Negatives: a locked differential would help to get the power on the track in turns, Shocks are overloaded on the Nürburgring.
Positives: The push how the car accelerate, the handling oversteer, oversteer, oversteer
After that they showed a promotion drive with Michael Schumacher on the new Ferrari Enzo. (What a car)......

So that was you!
Earlier this week as I was cruising along in my US spec European Delivery Mercedes at a mere 100 miles per hour in the center lane of the Autobahn approaching Munich I was passed by two blurring objects going at rocket speed. So that was your SL55 closing in on the hapless BMW ahead?
