sirius radio installation for 2003 SL55
okay, are there any "aesthetically acceptable" techniques for sirius radio installation in a 2003 SL55 without ripping out the existing audio/nav system?? If anyone has pictures of suitable alternatives that would be great.

Nice install on both devices! Did you consider installing the Radio in the ashtray? I saw that someone put it there and it looked great as well! Very nice how your attenna is hidden in that grill work!

There were 2 reasons why it had to be FM modulated.
1. The deck does not have an anntennea input to incorporate the FM to be plugged into it directly. It uses a fiber optic cable thats runs to the antenna.
2. The deck is a pain in the but to remove you have to basically destroy the mounting sleeve to get it removed and order a new one to put it back in.
Here is a link to see for your self.

Thanks for the info. Still too bad. Am I just making a big deal over the FM modulation? Is the sound quality still pretty good?

Lionsgate,
I have heard ones that are very staticy, the one i have you can not tell it is fm transmitted. sounds like you are listening to another radio stattion.
The only thing is that when you put the volume on low and you have it on the FM modulated station you do hear some static but again only with the volume on very low.
When you have the volume at listening level or higher you do not hear any static at all.
