SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Warranty Question

Warranty Question
So I am going to buy a 2005 SL55 soon, between 10-30K miles on it. I asked my service advisor at FJ mercedes and he says that there really isn't any good warranty package that I can buy. In fact he said that none of them cover the AMG cars and even the SL500 is only covered to about 70% of the cost..
Now I have read the other warranty related posts which seem to contradict this, any thoughts?

If you buy your SL55 through a MB dealer, you can purchase a Starmark Warrenty directly from Mercedes. They are alittle pricey, about $1700 for an additional year and/or 50k, or $4000 for 2 years and/or 50k, but cover the car competely. I wouldn't have one of these AMG kompressor cars without a MB warranty. Just my thoughts

Oh I see, so the warranty is only available if you buy it from the dealer ay?
I am planning on buying the car sometime in early 2007, I am planning way in advance as this is my absolute dream car, but I would never even think about owning one without the warranty.

I may be selling mine by then (2005 SL55) and I already have a extended warranty. I bought it from FJ in newport Beach in 11/2004. It should have about 23-25K miles by then...

We should definitely keep in touch then. I have a lease on my W211 until next March. I'll probably buy a SL55 sometime around Feb. That extended warranty would make it a very attractive deal for me.
