Just came from my dealer...VIP 55 was in
Just got back from dropping off my ML for some service...and there she was...hot off the truck...A VIP Sl 55...Silver with Charcoal interior...burl wood...panoramic roof...multi-spoke wheels.
They have gotten four so far... first production cars arriving early September...still confirming at least one car a month...
Had a nice chat with a guy #7 on the list...owns a E55 now...
They are receiving 7-8 SL 500s a month now...a little short of their alotment of 12.
Talked to my saleman about the Designo Granite trim...no one there had even heard of it???!!! Sucks...Unless it comes through as a new option I will have to order it aftermarket from Europe
He fired the 55 up to move it a bit...great great rumble...you should have seen the look from everyone hanging around the service counter

If you download the German SL price list from www.mercedes.de, you will see it listed. Keep in mind this is a build option price will be lower than the after market price because there's a built in credit for the standard item. Either way, it's a costly option.
The SL55 is not the car to have if you are the shy retiring type. I think attention on the street will come as standard.

Yeah ...I know I have seen a number of pictures of it and have option #'s and prices both from DE and UK...so I know it is expensive...I like what I have seen...I plan on checking in out in person on a trip to EU...if I still like it I will order through friends overseas...It pisses me off that MBUSA limits so many of the options they offer to us that MB Int offers others...doesn't seem to matter to MBUSA that they have customers willing to pay.

Just out of curiousity, who is your M-B dealer in NY and how many Mercedes a month do they sell at their dealership? Just want to get an idea if the delaer is comparable in size to mine or bigger.

MB Manhattan...owned by MBUSA....I don't know their total sales...just the figures you see above...but it has got to be alot of cars!...Dealership employs 130 people.
as another example...I know their alocation on last years CL 55 was 2 cars a month.

No Sticker on this one!....but prices have been posted...MBM sells at sticker...
Sorry no camera...panoramic roof looked nice...noticed a detail I hadn't seen before...vents in the rear wheel wells...I presume for brake cooling...car just looks so solid and compact...sound even at idle vibrated the building
