SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: SL600 Renntech vs SL65
#27
I have an SL600 with RT stage 1 and exhaust. The car went 11.25@125. I have gone with a few SL65s and CL65s and have destroyed them. The only 65 I ever lost to was my buddy's who has a RT stage 1, exhaust and airbox, it's the car that went 10.85. Here's a couple of samples of the 600:

Come East near the water and there's no less than 3 SL65's and 7 SL55's within two blocks of me...and across the street there's another black RennTech SL600 and yet two more RennTech SL600's within a block (none have the V12 BiTurbo on the trunk) ...and yes, millions of SL500's. Yes, a few DB9's, two V12 Scaglietti's, a few 430 modena's, and a Porche GT, and few 911 Turbos...
I was the first SL600 to get the RennTech ECU and TCU upgrade back in '03 and haven't had any issues and still love to drive her everyday...

I'm in Plantation (Broward). For some reason I rarely see any 55's or 65's in my area and I'm looking. Today I actually saw an SL55 coming out of a gas station. I see a million SL500's.
I raced a 2006 CL65 about 1 week ago. We raced three times. Twice from a roll and once from a stand still. From a 30mph roll we were dead even up to about 130mph untill we needed to brake. From a stand still I beat the CL mainly because of traction issues but it was still very close. I assume it would be about the same against an SL65 but I'm still looking!!!

Holy ****!!!
I wish I saw even half that many nice auto's around where I live. I'm in Soccer Mom-ville with SUV's everwhere and on a rare occations I see some 911's. I see a few nice cars at work. Actually a guy I work with got the first 2007 911TT in South Florida. He ordered it 1.5 years ago and got it for MSRP. I sat in it and rev'd the engine a bit. Very nice but the exhaust note is way too soft for a car of this caliber. No Keyless go on the Porsche! I know it's a true sports car but this is a feature I don't think I could ever not get again. Keeps me limited to Mercedes or BMW for now.
I love my SL600 also and use it for my daily driver. Wish I had the 65 though. Maybe some day.

I am guessing Dyno comp did all your work. Did you add the airbox as well? What kind of gains from the airbox did you see? Do you have a sound clip of the exhuast?

Whats is your friends sl65 running? Does he have the 98octane renntech file as well? What was his dyno results? It seems that your car is running as much hp as a tuned sl65 and even more lbft then what renntech or kleeman offers. I seem to be hearing about 670hp and 840lbft from either company.

I actually may not have my car in November. I've been trying to find a low mile CL65 and if I get a good deal I'm going to buy one. I'll post if I get rid of my SL for a CL.
