That's terrible luck. No airbag deployed though?
But at least it wasn't somebody trying to rip you off.
There was a rash of reports 10 years ago where thieves were reversing into nice cars at stop lights to pop the victim's airbag. Then they would run back while the victim was stunned, and rob them.

i shift to neutral sometimes
I got rear-ended by a honda when I was still in my ML. It was one of the new ones...I lost the two hitch cover, and it look like his hood was destroyed. Luckily the guy was cool about it and everything went smoothly. The opposite was true for my father...he got taken to court for "braking too hard for the yellow, and this caused injuries preventing my dumb@ss self from working".
