worlds stupidest driver hits my SL55

So last night I was stopped at a red light here in Scottsdale, AZ. I was a good 20 feet behind the car in front of me. When the light turned green, the woman in the Isuzu SUV in front of me puts her car into reverse and floors it.

She hit us in the SL at warp 5 without even a hint of braking. Of course I called the police as by all accounts it looked as if I hit her. While waiting for the cops I asked what possible was she thinking. She said and I quote..."I was confused"

So there you go..now my SL has a baseball size hole inthe front bumper from her tow hitch and a broken grill.

SL55 and other drivers stupidity

I almost got it the other day on Chapman and the 55 Frwy.
Sitting at the red light. Watching the cars make the left onto
the Frwy. Look behind me and see some dude coming up on me in
a beat up old Nissan. All I hear is tires screeching and smoking.
Brakes locked. He has not seen the red light I am sitting at.
Not a fun feeling. Legs and feet got numb from the adrenelin.

So its get nailed or run the light. I run the light. People making left are honking. But my SL survives for another day. The dumb shi- easily went 20 Ft. thru the intersection before he stopped. Some parts of Orange County resemble a certain country south of the US. This area is one of them.
Got 20 bucks he was drunk and had no license/insurance/Green Card.

If the Isuzu was an automatic, then it sounds as if she did it on purpose.

The isuzu was an automatic and the SUV is called an Acsender (or something like that)

I looked the thing up online and saw from the manufacturer's site it has a center console shifter (kinda like the SL)

But from the way she did her burnout..It sure seemed like she did it on purpose. Nor did she brake when she heard my horn either..just full 100% gas right into the front of me.

oh and yes she was a blonde

It may seem like she did it on purpose but we all know the blond drivers have no idea have to operate cars (I am not saying ALL women). My gf gets to intersections and has to ask me 'do I go' and 'am I doing this right', etc, so I don't let her drive anywhere. She was probably talking on the phone and playing with the shifter or something, or better yet she probably threw her US weekly down when she saw the light change and it hit the shift lever (Since it is an Isuzu the shift lock doesn't work) and it went right into reverse. She probably didn't even know she was going backward until she felt the contact LOL.

Anyways, do you have a picture of the front. I am sure it would make us cringe but I always like looking at that exotic wreak site

When the police came was it clearly reported that you were stopped and she backed into you. If this did not happen and there are no witnesses, I could see the lady saying the you ran into her.

I absolutely called the police. 2 cars showed up in fact.

Seeing as how an SL55 isnt a cheap car and people get envious I didnt want to take any chance what so ever. From the look of it, one might assume I rearended her. But she admitted fault to me, she admitted fault to the police and she was cited. I ever explained to the police that even though this was a minor event, it could snowball into me getting royally screwed. Hence the 911 call. I even made sure to ask both officers point blank who was at fault...just so there was no mistake.

fyi - this is the SECOND time Ive been hit stopped at a red light.

The first time I was stopped waiting for the green light and a women..yes another woman..plowed into the back of my ML55. She pretty much totalled her Honda and was kinda messed up. Same old thing. She was confused or some crap like that.

Not much happened to the ML55. Had to replace the bumper and the muffler system..plus some clamps ect..

Same kinda thing happened to me, except my car was parked, in a driveway.
I pulled my car into my friends driveway, and his wife decided to leave, and got in her car in the garage, opened the garage door, and backed into my SL55! She said she didn't see it. Imagine if a kid was standing there.
Her tailpipe basically cookie-cuttered my front bumper. About $1800 damage.
Sucks when you can't punch your friends wife.

Is @ Home
Thats really messed up. I don't see any reason to change any gears on an automatic while waiting in traffic. Looks like me and her are both confused. Good luck fixing the car.

Don't forget to go after diminished value. I ended up with $8500.00 in DV for my accident. I went after $15,000.00 and settled for $8500.00 instead of hiring an attorney.

I assume you mean the financial hit the car takes now that the car must show that it has been in an accident?

How much of the $8500 is above and beyond the cost of the actual repair?

the entire $8500 ... any car that shows records of, or has been in an accident loses a lot of its value ... i know i would never buy a car that has been in one unless it was ULTRA cheap ... anyone else would be weary, and doubtful, etc ...

$8500 is below fair number for the loss you will take in the cars ultimate selling or collectible value.

The loss of value was estimated between 12 and 15 grand by MB which is probably low for a wholesale value. Since I decided to keep the car, and I didn't want to get the same thing by just splitting a higher settlement with an attorney who would have put this case in his whatever file, I took the (correction) $8000.00 and moved on. Unless the engine or body changes on the SL65 I will continue to drive the crap out of this one. The total cost of the repair was a little north of $16,000.00 if I remember correctly, which was paid by the other person's insurance.

After being hit in a SL65 and a SL55 I gave up, and decided not to trade because of the accident. I would rather loose that money two years from now. I'm we'll aware that any wrecked car will never have the same value.

Same, but even then it's not like you let off the brake or anything like that.

The American driver education system is so messed up it's not even funny. I'm going to shut up though because it makes my blood boil when I think about it.

That is such a typical response I had an incident with an older lady a few years ago when she backed into the side of a custom pro-streeter I had and all she could say was "It's just a car"

Thanks for the heads up. There is someone here in AZ that specializes in this. I have contacted them and started the process.
