Tires Rubbing?

I need some help. I just bought a set of used HRE 547r's used from another sl55 owner. The rears are 19x11.5 with 295/30 19 Conti's that rub when when the suspension compresses. Anybody have any suggestions other than that I got screwed? Thanks

TireRack shows 285/30 as being the correct size for 19" wheels on an SL, so you are slightly oversized with the 295/30s.

Incorrect offset can also compound the issue.

sl 55, e500, x5 4.4
ditto, cant go bigger than 20 if going higher than 285, but maybee some very aggresive alignment and rolling the fenders will solve, but that can cause more $$$ damage than just getting new rubber

my uncle has a sl500 w/ 20's and he's running a 305 on the rear no problem.
his car is also slammed.
you got the wrong offset.
you can have a machine shop shave the hub on the wheel if you still have enough room to clear the brakes (i dunno how big the lips are etc....).
if you cant do that then roll your fenders, although i believe all amgs have rolled fenders, sometimes there is a little that sticks out, it did on mine and i just had a shop cut it.
goodluck

I have 20X11 rears with 305/25 Conti's on 03 SL55. Lowered, no rubbing.
