I bought a SL65 a few months back and love the car.So far all I have done to the car is changed out the rims and tires.I went to a set of 20" HRE 547R with Continental Sport Contact 2s.Not to sure about the ride quality. Was wondering if anybody else has went with the 20s and how they felt about it.

I went to 20 Carlssons' and the ride is definately harsher over rough roads. Not much difference on e-way but still noticeable. If traveling I put stock 18's on.

Congratulations for your purchase! You cant go wrong with V12 Bi turbo. As for harsher ride, base on my experience, the heavier the wheel, the harsher it is. I have been into SL that has Carlsson 1/ 16 ultralight and Renntech wheels and i didnt notice any difference in ride quality at all.

I swapped out the standard 18s for the AMG 19s from the SL65 and the ride is fine, but the turn in is much better. It definitely improved the handling.

I went from 19's to 20's on my CLS55.

I went back to the 19's

When I replaced the stock 19's on my SL, I put 19's on.

Between the ride and the pot holes (bent rims)... the 20's suck.

AND, IMO, the handling suffered as well with the 20's

There is no advantage running 20"s, looks or perfomance.

20s look billion times better
but all i care about is performance so i ordered 19s for my 997 although 20s fit no problem
