Modded SL65 vs. 800whp Supra!
Here is a video from last night with a modded SL65 (not sure what he had done) racing a 800whp supra on the highway. There were alot of fast cars out last night (viper, supra's, turbo Lexus IS, supercharged m roadster, modded sti, etc etc) but cops showed up and everyone split. I didnt get a chance to talk to the guy with the SL65. I was very impressed with how it hung with the supra! The only races of the night were SL65 vs. supra, s/c m roadster vs. modded sti, and modded sti vs. modded E46 M3. It was a fun night. More videos to come this spring/summer and this time I'll bring the kleemann out to play ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Pm me your cell # and I'll call you up the next time it goes down. These things happen with very short notice so as to keep the ricers away, not to mention the cops, lol. I'm doing a track rental at MIR end of March/early April if you wanna go. I will know the exact date tomorrow.

Yeah.........but ya cannot ride as comfortably as in a -65........![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Not to be disparaging, I must say that comparing a -65, (even a "modded" one) to an 800 RWHP supra has got to be a no-win for the Merz.....that is a given.
10 years from now the Supra will be dust............and the SL-65, will keep on moddin' and running.......
It is What It Is.........Almost Timeless.....

the resale value on the supra twin turbo definately can't be beat though.. i remember paying $22k for my used 94 supra almost 10 years ago... i crashed it 3 years later and my insurance company paid me $24k for it..
"now"..the same 94 twin turbo with higher mileage is going for $25,000+.
now that's one modern car that is a good investment.. keeps appreciating.. :>

These high hp Supras are no joke... many of the pushing over 1,000whp. I didn't expect an SL65 to have a chance, even chipped they only make about >600whp. For these highway battles, your best bet is some good old American muscle. If you want to stay with exotics, there are some Ford GT's making 1,500whp that will pretty much destroy anything on the highway

I have to disagree here. 10 years from now Supras will be on a platform at the Barrett Jackson auction going for well over 100k. 65's have lost HALF their value in only a year, Supra's haven't depreciated at all.

When was the last time a Japanese Performance-Modded-Street-Car brought over 100K at Barrett Jackson??........
That is a bold prediction.........unless, the value of the dollar continues to degrade at an alarming rate.
I also must take issue with the fact that -65's lose "Half" their value in one year.........if that is the case, then I just wasted a lot of money on my -55.....when I could have bought a year-old -65 for 94K or so........

Supra?
I have to agree the only person looking for a supra would be a person into racing, certainly not a car enthusiast or collector IMO .

Not trying to start a bickering war, Cylinder Head has a valid point, but you forget to mention that one movie brought the Supra's back to life...they're badass cars no doubt, but again, they're only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for one
