is it supposed to update/synchronize automatically for accuracy and for time-zone changes?

mine didn't update for the daylight saving time beginning march 11, and i admit, i don't know how to change it manually.

I have the same question. It looks like at least some versions of Command aren't ready for the early start to DST in the US.

I fiddled around with mine yesterday and got as far as the screen that adjusts the date/time via the "SVC" button. However the Hours field was grayed out and couldn't be adjusted.

You can switch it to automatically in the command!

it's very odd because my MY2002 CLK55 updates automatically.

how could the MB technowizards have left such a hole in the software?

please tell me where in the COMAND tome to find the manual programming instructions.

Unfortunately MB never thought about the early adoption of daylight savings, so you will have to set it. Go to SVR on your command unit and select time. You can then change the time for the new hour increasing it for the daylight savings time (increase it one hour) and then click OK. The go to the menu buttons on the steering wheel and selct settings, convenience and finally time. There will be an option to sync with head unit, clik yes and the clock will change to correspond with the head unit on the command module. I had to do it yesterday on 4 of my cars.

You can also set the time simply by going to the menu's on the steering wheel and change the time but I found the previous to be more accurate for me.

I didn't have to do the sync with headunit, mine just updated after I manually changed time up 1 hour

In the past I experienced a one minute loss on my clock every day when I did not sync it to the head unit. Once I synced it the time was just fine. I took it to the dealer and they said they never saw an SL lose time on its own. The SA said to synch it and that should solve it. Thank goodness it did because, like almost everyone here, when they repair one thing they tend to screw up two other things.

so, i followed instructions for COMAND updating, and the moment i moved up an hour, the clock changed with it. i supposed i'll sopon find out if it's necessary to actually synch via the cluster. thanks for the advice! dave

Does anyone know if I can change the time on the dash without having the comand unit? I have an aftermarket headunit, so I am not sure about it myself. Thanks.

Yes you can by selecting the settings menu, then the convenience setting from your wheel buttons, scoll to time and from there you can change the hours and minutes

do it manually, go to 'SVC' - settings - date/time - unclick the 'daylight savings time', press the button couple seconds. Go through the whole thing again, except this time it will allow you to change the minutes on the clock however this time will be in 30min interval, so two clicks on the wheel button will get you the extra one hour needed. Hope this makes sense. good luck

I got into the area to set the clock on the COMAND and moved the hour forward, but the clock is about 12 minutes too fast. I am unable to set the minutes correctly. When I hit the up or down button it only advances them in 30 minute intervals which does me no good, since I need it to go down 12 minutes. I can't believe that setting the clock on a MB is so difficult that there has to be a thread on it!!! I'm just glad to hear there are others that are having trouble too! Thanks.

yup, such troubles definitely deserve company.

a 200k car requires 300k of education just to learn where to post questions about setting the clock.

I feel yer pain...............my clock reads exactly two hours ahead and I cannot figure out how to set it, unless I wait until midnight and disconnect the battery in the trunk and then reconnect it immediately, hopefully, it might reset to 12:00...........

I am a "clock dummy" on the SL-55..........and the owners manual has been little help so far.......

I fooled around for a bit too.
My CL500 was even worse. I had to post to get help.

On your 05 SL55
Set it from the steering wheel buttons. Not the Command.
Make sure you DO NOT sync with the head.
Highlight the hour and use the - on the volume control.
E-mail me if you hack and I will give you the exact sequences.

As a computer geek. I am just guessing too.
Damn car is way too complicated.

"Sync with the Head". More than likely means "Sync with the Command
system".
And the command gets its time input from the GPS Satellite.
The problem there is the car thinks its not Daylight Savings yet.
So it will set itself back an hour if you use that option on the steering wheel options.

Screw the time. Hit the throttle and enjoy.

so, after following instructions for changing the clock, the right time shoed up everywhere. and then, the clocks changed THEMSELVES as they'd been preprogrammed to do. i had to undo their change. what a goofy system!

apparently the systems got screwed up b/c of the time change being bumped up a few weeks...we had to do quite a few of them where I work...definitely annoying

yup, annoying to say the least. i'd hopped into the car, heading for one of the few truly important meetings on my calendar. boom! the car clock suggested i was already 30 minutes late!!! i freaked, pulled out the phone and saw i still had 30 minutes. then, i realized an auto-adjustment had occurred, and had to be undone. i did it probably in under a minute.
i wonder, could MB fix the new problem with a software flash?

I am sorry guys, but it is clear that I am very stupid, but I cannot set the clock on my 05 sl55. My problem is that my handbook is in German! I have tried to fiddle with the steering wheel buttons on the settings side(and yes the text is in English!) but there does not appear to be any submenu for the clock. Any help please!!?? (with clear instructions preferable!!)

So I suppose from the lack of responses, that I am not the only one who doesnt know how to adjust the clock!?!?
