SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Remodel?

Remodel?
I'm thinking about buying an SL55 but i don't want to get into a purchase and then have the complete remodel come out in less than a year. Does anyone know when the complete remodel is going to be done? Not just a facelift but a fully remodeled SL.

just read that a facelifted version will be launched in 2009. i saw from the picture that it will have a CLS headlamp... and front bumper will be different as well.. however, i am not sure why.. they are still calling it as the facelift, not the new generation SL....

Given mid-cycle revision of SL was released in Spr06, likely the totally new SL is a Spr09ish launch....
Note there's very little in way of direct competition for $135-150K SL55, so no rush on new model....but would observe SL sales are down some 30% since mid-cycle refresh.....would say any discretionary car's "coolness" half-life is much shorter today than it was 5yrs ago....
May make sense to lease a new SL55 today w/one of MB's relatively cheap 2 yr leases....hand ancient SL55 back to dealer at end of lease and move into new SL.....
Or just get a new CL600 today on a 2 yr lease....must say CL600 makes today's SL55/65 seem positively ancient when evaluating the quality of interior materials, seats, infotainment systems, safety systems, etc.....

A totally new SL isn't due until at least 2010 or so. The facelifted model will debut either late this year or early next year and will go on sale here for the 2009 and 2010 model years. The SL55 becomes the SL63 like every other 55 model has become. The new front end will look similar to the new CL and the brand new C-Class. The E and CLK all come before the SL this time around, not all together as they did in 2003.
One of the reasons the SL is getting another facelift is because of what the above poster has said about it compared to the new S/CL. The SL will get the SLK's airscarf system, the new nav hard drive from the S/CL and other improvements to bring it inline with the rest of the bunch and to see it through the rest of the decade.
Remember the SL isn't on the 7-year plan like other Benzes, never has been.
