Well I have to say is I am more than impressed. This car is fantastic! The thing is such a torque machine and I am amazed how the ESP keeps things under control. I have found I just baby it out of the hole until I get to around 30mph and then hammer it. Even then the ESP is fighting not to break the tires loose and when it gives the "ok" this rocket gives you that roller coaster feeling in your stomach that we all strive for ( and I have rarely found in cars) and really doesnt give up until you do. From the deep rumble of the idle to the absolute pleasurable daily drivability of this car, it's a complete package. Sat I took it up the pacific coat highway with the top down and that was the topper of the weekend. Opening it up on that nice stretch of road with that ocean breeze in your face was priceless. I have driven many exotics and I have to say this SL exceeds almost every experience I have had when you take in account all it's attributes.
One down side is the reputation of the 65 and how it seems to tame most anyone who at a distance thought they might want to give me a go. I never had this with my other cars and would find people testing me left and right. There were two M5s I thought were sure takers, one was modded with at min after market exhaust, and couldn't get any of them to run. Only taker was a modded WRX that actually was fun because with his AWD I had to let him shoot out of the hole and take the lead before I could bring the power on. It was a rush to be so far behind and blow by him like he ran out of gas. Being in LA and for a car that has been out a while I was also amazed at how many thumbs up I got.
As far as mods, I'm now on the fence. My tech told me not to touch it and he had a point. Adding more HP and torque is going to make the traction problem even worse and while it will shave time off the 1/4 mile is it worth it. I don't know. Half of me says of course it is. I took the car over to his shop Friday and had him lower it a bit via the star diagnostic system. Stock there was just too much of a gap in the front and rear for me. I think it's perfect now. I'm going for a dyno this weekend so I will keep all posted.

I was all set to throw another set of 20" Renntech monolites on the car but after I lowered the car a tad I'm perfectly happy with the stock 19s. Besides the GT2, this is the first time I am going with stock wheels. I know what you mean about being one of a kind but believe it or not even in LA it is a rare sight to see a SL65. I also like the fact that the 65 wheels are an extension of the car's badges identifying what it is.
