new SL55 Owner...

Hey I've owned mercedes for a long time right now I have an andorite gray S550 and tomorrow Im getting an '04 SL55 w/ 33K miles delivered. I have a relative in my family whose a wholesaler and he got me a deal which I thought was great for a 500 hp car with a warranty...I paid 62.5K for blk/blk but I have to buy an extended warranty for about 3.5K and tax so itll be about 70K altogether. I bought this bc ever since I bought the S550, my lovely gf who lives with me seems to have forgotten her Audi A4 cab and I seem to be stuck with it all the time. Anyways Just wanted to ask opinions on how this car will hold in value for 12-24 months, I just want to keep it for a little while and sell before the New SL comes out(when will that be?) Ive looked on EBAY and I know its a very good deal, but do you think I can keep it for 24 months and lose less than 20K on the cars price Im not counting insurance or any of that stuff. Let me know what you think. I drove the car a little bit on friday but I was advised by my uncle to take it straight to the dealer bc it had a weak battery and a couple recalls the '04 had to get them straightened out(harmonic balancer and whatnots). Well Ill post pics tomorrow as soon as it comes from the dealer with my S550. Anyways I look forward to posting on here more from now on.

Also if anyone knows how much the services cost Id be grateful Im not worried but I was looking thorugh the service guide in my S550 and I saw the price of front rotors on an E class AMG was $900 but there was nothing for the SL AMG. I imagine most things will cost more than the S550 but thats been relatively cheap so far, but I've only got 6800 miles on it. Anyways thanks for any info

Also where do you think these will bottom out in 3-4 years? My dad just sold his 95 SL600 he bought new for over 130K for around 15K...yikes...but I know at worst i dont think i could lose more than 30K in 2-3 years

Thumbs up Congrads!

Danny,

Congrads on the car...

I think that most of us just love the car so much that the devaluation is just accepted as the price of owning this car... I think you would lose at least 20k in 2 years, if not more...

The 2009 will have have CLS headlights, and a grill that resembles the SLK... Personally I think it a mistake. The hood has a ridge down the middle, and I think it ruins the lines...

This version I feel is destined to be a classic as the gullwing was.

2013 will be the completely new car.

A extended warranty is a MUST with these cars. I have one to 100,000mi or 5 years. My car has 5,000mi on it Lucky to have it.

The rotors are the same part, I believe... I had gotten prices of $1,000 per rotor.

Good Luck with the car... And let us see some pictures, and keep us posted on how you are doing with it.

Best,

RoydRage

wow

wow 2013 thats great, that means it will hold value really well, I just assumed 2010 or around there bc the last S class made it 7 yrs....Personally Id like to see the S class front end on the new sl but if its cls i agree thats not really too appealing to me but I guess one day Ill see pics and probably buy It. Haha I've had nearly every SL except the obvious 300SL I still have a 560SL, a '94 SL500, and a 450SL I had a 190SL about 6 yrs ago and I completely regret selling it today I just love these cars my gf thinks they're just OLD, haha women just dont appreciate beauty

Danny,

The SL's do not follow the same model life as the S Class, and the rest.

If you will

The 113 class ran from 1963 to 1971

The 107 Chassis Ran the longest from 1971 To 1989! 18 Years!!

The R129 Chassis Of course ran from 1990 to 2003... 13 Years... There is increased pressure of the competition, but Lets hope our cars do last at least as long.

Best,

RoydRage
