Hi,

First of all I know that Audi R8 its not at the same category of the SL but I'm asking for help in wich one to choose!

I have a Jag XKR convertible (2001) and I like the car very much, but after some issues with the dealer, who doesn't know what to do with my warning ligths almost of the time!!! because of that I have a new engine and the old one only did 26000Km! enought!

I want other car, and the SL and the R8 have all the atributes needed for me, the SL an conv/coupe confortable and quick, the R8, gorgeous and handle and moves fantastic (I had allready drove it on track)...

Wich one to choose!?
I'm pretty tempted on the R8 but the SL55 with performance package its great to, but the problem here is, the SL I have to buy it used in germany since the price tag here (Portugal) is around +200000€ and I can get a new R8 for +-160000€ and I can give away to Audi dealer my jag! MB dealers don't have used SL55, ot they are old, I want a 1-2 years car and allready facelift...

PS: I don't like Porsches, there are more here than hants...

There's not much better than driving a convertible with the top down on a bright, sunny day and you have plenty of that kind of weather in Portugal.

200,000€ for a new SL? Oh-my-goodness!

Yes I love driving with the top down in sunny winter days or at hot nigths, but the rest of the year I burn my head with the hot sun

Thats Why I'm considering a coupe (R8) and maybe the SL because of the hardtop!

I like very much the SL with the performance package but the R8 its pure desire in a car and it will be very rare to see on the streets

Any comun mechanical/electrical problems with the SL55/SL600?

you should be living in egypt mercedes S350 is 250000 Euro we have customs 270% no typing mistake 270% so any car for 100000 euro would be 370000 euro in egypt !!!!!

anyway i think the SL is having a major facelift in 2008 it is a great car ,audi dont know still new haven't been tested ,, many things to consider

I read some where that it would be on the streets in 2010!
But again, no way I will buy a new SL!! to much for a car, that type of car...

Can you even get an R8? I heard that they are sold out 3 years from now.

At least in Europe is still a waiting list of some months (4 at least)

This is not even a choice. Get the R8 if you can get your hands on one and have the cash to buy it.

I'm waitinhg at this moment for an offer of my jag from my dealer, and the final price for the R8.

Its great to have only 12000€ in extra equipment, if it was MB it would be som 20-30000€!!!

Final price and before discounts +-164000€ (and off course before the jag trade maybe 55000€! Hopping )
